After being diagnosed with a voice disorder in 2005, I began to recognize all the habits that were fueling my suffering and hindering my full expression; self-doubt, pessimism, and an intense survival strategy of always wanting to hide. Through yoga, mindfulness meditation, and my interest in the psychology of self-actualization, I came to truly know that the most lasting and fulfilling changes happen from within. I soon came to discover Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, a proven modality created more than 30 years ago combining key elements of yoga and psychology to support the process of change. As I continue to embrace and even thrive amidst life’s transitions, I am now enlivened as I use my voice to support my clients in their own processes of self-discovery, be it through an illness, injury, trauma, or the grief that comes with personal loss.
Through mindful movement, meditation, and dialogue, you are offered the opportunity to explore what's happening for you in the present moment; physically, emotionally, intellectually and spiritually. You may then draw a connection between your in-the-moment experiences and your daily life, creating lasting change from the inside out.
I'm a yoga therapist, which is different than a yoga instructor and requires different training and certification (although in the process, I did receive my 500-hr teacher training certificate as well). My modality combines yogic philosophy with elements of mind/body psychology, so in many ways, my clients may feel as if they've been to a yoga class, visited a talk-therapist, and received a massage, all wrapped into one
My specialties are helping people navigate change and find greater ease within life's transitions such as coming to terms with a recent diagnosis or ongoing illness, leaving a long-time job or relationship, coping with the loss of a loved one, or acclimating to the demands of parenthood and relief from suffering caused by stress and stress-related illnesses, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, voice disorders.
